Crazy month of August!!!

Erik and I have been married now a little over 2 months! It has been great! The month of August though was hectic, and when I say hectic, I really mean it! We were blessed with many things and opportunities and trials....ALREADY! But we have grown and everyday I fall more in love with him!
Here are some pictures from our crazy month of August!

- Went to LAVA hot springs for my first time. I even jumped off the highest platform!

- We bought a car!

- Went home to WA and went boating with the fam!

- One of my best friends came home from his mission!

- Went to Bear Lake and swam, four wheeled, and jet skied! I even ran into J. Biebs!!!!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

- Erik's brother left on his mission!

- My other best friend came home from his mission!

- And my hunk of a man ran and finished a half marathon!!!

PROS of being married!

I've been married now for 39 days. Crazy how time flies! I decided I wanted to do a post about the joys of being married...so far! There are many pros and cons to being married compared to being single, but the pros definitely out due the cons! Here are a few of those:

PROS:
- I share the bathroom with one person
- Cuddle time = anytime I want!
- Pell Grants
- Someone who is a constant support to me
- Someone by my side through joys and trials
- Stability
- I can kiss him anytime I want!
- Living with your best friend
- Never lonely
- Someone who opens my car door for me EVERYTIME
- I have a date every week
- He lets me take up how ever much room on the bed I want
- Security
- I am sealed for eternity to the love of my life
-......And so on!

Being married just over a month, I have already seen and felt so many blessing that Heavenly Father has given Erik and I. I couldn't have chosen a better man to marry!

So it has been a looooooong time since I have blogged but I have some blog worthy news to share! I AM ENGAGED!!! Crazy right?! The lucky boy who is going to be stuck with me forever is Erik Hill. We actually have known each other since October and we dated a little in November and December. We didn't start exclusively dating till after Winter Break in January. Things just took off and next thing I know I have fallen in love with this crazy attractive weird boy!

During the past weeks we have talked about marriage and I even went and looked at rings with my sister and cousin and roommate to get a feel of what I liked. I picked out a few ring styles that I loved and then left it to my roommate Alicia to let Erik know. This weekend I'm taking Erik home for Easter weekend and the plan was for him to talk to my Dad then. So when he popped the question last night I was honestly to goodness completely surprised!

So yesterday I worked all afternoon at the doughnut shop that I also now work at. I got off at 5:30 and then went over to my Grandpa's to hang with him for a bit. Erik's brother got his mission call that day and was planning on opening it later that night at 9 so I knew we weren't going to be leaving for Layton till like 7:45. So I took my time getting home and such. Erik called me and seemed concerned that I wasn't home yet and haven't showered. I didn't see what the big deal was because it was only 6:30. My little sister even called and asked me what I was doing. I didn't think anything of those calls. I got home and got in the shower and hurried and got ready because Alicia asked me to take her the "Bench" to get a picture. I hurried and got ready and she was more concerned about what I was wearing than usual. I thought that was weird. So we start driving and I am soooo dumb and thought the  "Bench" was a store and she wanted to go buy a picture. We drive up a neighbor and we get to the "Bench" which is a spot that overlooks the valley and the Logan temple. Erik took me there one night. So then I was like "ohhhhhh you want to take your own picture of the temple" because it was so pretty and the sun was setting and everything. I walked over to the bench and I see a bunch of rose petals that was leading down a hill. I was like "oh! Someone got engaged last night!" I was so oblivious...... So I walk over to the flowers and look to see where they were leading and that's when I see Erik! He was dressed nice and holding flowers.  He is standing next to a table with pictures frames on it. My heart skipped a beat! Funny thing is my first thoughts were not what you probably thought they would be! I thought "Oh crap! My Dad is going to kill him because he didn't go talk to him!" But I was freaking out. I kept saying No! No way! Stop it! I couldn't believe he totally fooled me and I couldn't believe this moment was finally happening! I have been waiting for this moment all my life and it was finally happening! I walk down the hill towards him and give him a big hug. I look to the side and see about 6 heads and a bunch of phones out taking pictures! That wasn't awkward or anything haha! He sets the flowers down and he hands me a card. He says he isn't good with words so he wrote it down and wanted me to read it out loud. I read his sweet note. To be honest I couldn't even concentrate on the note because I couldn't believe I was about to be proposed to! At the end of the note it said "I have a question to ask you" and then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! He popped open the ring box and I couldn't believe my eyes! It was the perfect ring and I instantly fell in love with it! He did so good! :) It took me a few moments to respond but of course I said YES! Is he cute or what!?

By the way, yes he did talk to my dad, he called him a few days ago and got permission. He wanted me to come home engaged so that I could share that excitement with my family and friends. He is super thoughtful!

 

 

 

 

 

I honestly never thought this day would come. But I know without a doubt that Erik is the one and I can't wait to spend eternity with him!

 

 

Oh and p.s I cant stop staring at my gorgeous ring! :)

2013 you have been great!

This year, 2013, sure didn't disappoint! Here are some of the many great things that happened this year!

 

~ Made many great friends!

 

 

~ I went snowboarding for the first time ever!

~ I faced my fear and held a REALLY big snake around my neck....

~ I tried sushi for the first time! Not a huge fan....

 

 

~ I embraced the DI and wore a sweet old dress to church!

 

 

 

 

 

~ Got all my clothes stolen out of the dryer and lost literally all my underwear!

 

 

 

 

~ Went to Parachute and He Is We concert!

 

 

 

 

~ Survived the cold and snow last winter/spring!

 

 

 

 

~ Went to the Temple many times with my roommates which then started my desire and habit of going to the temple every week early in the morning in the summer and this last semester! I LOVE GOING TO THE TEMPLE!

 

 

 ~ McKayla's graduation!!!

 

 

 

 

 

 ~ Went home for the summer and McKayla and I got a job I never thought I would have, a janitor. It was great spending every evening with her! We went and got treats a lot after work!

~ Worked at the movie theatre during the summer also so I went to a lot of free movies with my Mom!

 

~ Spent some quality time with my two main boys during the summer!

 

 

 

 

 

 

  

 

~Had a dream come true and went to visit Shana in Texas and went horseback riding... in TEXAS!! Oh and we also went to a Kenny Chesney concert! Definitely the best trip I have been on yet!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

~ Got to see Russ and spend some more quality time with him!

 

 

 

 

~ Spent many days floating the Yak!

 

 

 

 

 

~ Had the funnest week when my friends came up from Utah to visit this summer!

 

 

~ I also got to nanny my favorite kids this summer!

 

 

 

~ A lot of my friends got married this summer!

 

 

 

 

 

~ Went rock climbing for the first time!

 

 

 

 

 

~ Did the MAN vs MUD run!

 

 

 

 

~ Got some visits from Chris!

 

 

 

 

~ Made a dress from recycled items for a fashion show!

 

 

 

 ~ Tried peaches for the first time :)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

~Got the best roommates this year! :)

 

 

 

 

~Have gone to MANY football games with some great friends!

 

 

 

 

~Have done a lot of bowling!

 

 

 

 

 

~ Have spent most of my time with my goofy sister and cousin and have loved it!

 

 

 

 

 

~ Have gotten to see and spend time with my siblings A LOT this last semester!!!

 

 

 

 

 

~ Decided I wanted to volunteer and joined CASA and got sworn in by the judge! Now just wanting to make a difference in a child's life!

 

 

 

 

~ I have the best parents around! Have been there for me through EVERYTHING this year!

 

 

 

 

 

~ Of course I cant forget to mention my best friend! Though apart most of the year, still the bestest friends :)

 

 

 

 

~ Have had a blast writing all my missionary boys! Friends are the best!

 

 

 

 

~ The biggest thing that happened this year though, would have to be when my dear grandma died. It was a hard time but I treasure all the time I got to spend with her while I went to school in Logan. I think that was part of the reason why I was meant to go to Utah State, so that I would get to spent her last years with her. And through it all I also have grown really close with my grandpa. I am very blessed!

 

 

 

 ~2013 has been great but I am so ready to see what 2014 will bring! I am ready to embrace whatever comes, including the cold weather when I go back to Logan..... PEACE AND LOVE!
